Ahmet Oral

Ahmet, born in Istanbul in August 1937, embarked on an illustrious journey in the field of architecture, beginning with his studies at the Architectural Association School of Architecture from 1956 to 1961. Following his academic pursuits, he gained valuable experience as an assistant architect at the London offices of Howell, Killick, Partridge and Amis. This two-year tenure was succeeded by a significant move to Zurich, where he served as an architect in the offices of Otto Glaus, a disciple of the legendary Le Corbusier.

In 1964, after returning to Turkey to complete his military service, Ahmet established his own practice as a senior architect at the offices of M. Oral (senior), a firm founded in 1935. During this period, he was responsible for the design and supervision of the Yapı ve Kredi Bank headquarters in Istanbul. His work for the bank extended to several other notable projects, including apartment blocks in Istanbul, a bank branch and office facilities in Beykoz, and a meeting and conference hall for major shareholders in Yeniköy.

Beyond his bank-related projects, Ahmet also demonstrated his architectural expertise in residential design. He was instrumental in designing and constructing an apartment block in Bebek/Istanbul, duplex apartments within a villa in Dragos/Istanbul, and from 1977 to 1984, he designed and manufactured contract interiors and modular kitchens in his own factory.
